Tips on
the new RickChat:
You'll need to be running a
Java Plug In.
This is preinstalled with most current browsers, such as
IE 6.0, but you may need to turn it on under the
Advanced Tab found in your Internet Options.
On a windows machine, go to your Control Panel
Either:
►Start
►Control
Panel
(or)
►Start
►Settings
►Control
Panel
►Then
click Internet Options
►Then
click the Advanced Tab
Scroll down until you locate the Java settings and check
all the boxes that apply to Java.
If cannot locate these settings or you do not
have Java installed on your machine, it is available for
free download from the manufacturer. Click
here to download.
When you first click to launch the RickChat window, (see
figure 1) you'll see a text box with the word "Guest".
Type your nickname, screen name or preferred name in
that box to replace the word "Guest". That will be the
name displayed next to your chat messages.
If you have any problems with the RickChat window not
fitting your monitor, try resetting your monitor
resolution to 1024x768 (the minimum for most optimum web
browsing) On windows, go to your Control Panel as above,
click Display, the adjust your resolution under the
Settings Tab. The RickChat window may also be adjusted
slightly by resizing the window which frames the chat
room with your mouse cursor. Just drag the window open a
bit.
The little boxes/buttons under the area where you type
your chat is where you can change your font colors, add
emoticons, log out etc. etc.
